The Armstrong Powerhouse presents a Class 166 Sound Pack for the Class 166 supplied with RailWorks.
These sounds were professionally recorded from a variety of Class 165s which have the same engines as the Class 166 so sound identical. They feature authentic class 166 rev-up, rev-down sounds, a new idle and engine power sounds as well as bogie sounds so it actually sounds like you are moving! During the installation process, these sounds will be applied to all Class 166s supplied in the default RailWorks installation. Below is a video demonstrating the sounds:
Since the video above was compiled, a new feature has been discovered within the RailWorks sound system which allows the way a sound fades to be improved. With this new feature, sound now fades in a realistic manner by not staying at the same volume within a 30m bubble as before and becoming too quiet too soon but fading as you would expect it to. As well the sounds, a high-quality scenario for the Paddington to Oxford route is included with a duration of around 60 minutes so you can test the sounds out. This scenario has all trains from the May - December 2008 Working Timetable implemented and are named with headcode, origin and destination so you can see where the train has come from! The scenario itself is based in mid-2007 so you will see a variety of refurbished and un-refurbished HSTs.

Important Information - Railworks Compatibility Issue
Due to stricter rules on the editing of core default files in RailWorks, everytime RailWorks updates, it overwrites any edited core files which means this sound pack stops functioning. By buying this pack then, you accept that you will have to reinstall everytime RailWorks updates OR turn RailWorks updates off by going offline on Steam and only updating when you really have to.
